Lindsay Lohan lawsuit against GTA 5 rejected by court
Interesting facts – Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5 or GTA V) is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The game has become subject to widespread online debate and entertainment news over the girl character. Lindsay Lohan filed lawsuit against Rockstar. She alleged that the girl in the game were based on her likeness. This long running lawsuit now comes to an end when Lindsay Lohan lawsuit against Rockstar Games, GTA 5 was rejected by court last weekend.
Lohan claimed that the game girl character, Lacey Jonas, was based around her. In the game, Jonas could be rescued from swarms of paparazzi by players and Lohan’s lawsuit asserted the character’s storyline was “substantially similar” to her life.
The illustration, which featured a blonde woman in a red bikini taking a selfie, which featured prominently in GTA V’s promotional art, even featuring as a cover in some versions of the game. Lohan claimed the art co-opted her “signature peace sign”.
In the lawsuit, Lohan’s lawyers claimed “it is unequivocal that the Plaintiff was the intended referent in the GTA V game by using her likenesses, portraits, and voice solely to advertise the game for trade purposes.”
In a New York court on Thursday however, it was ruled that the actress had no case against Rockstar Games as her name wasn’t used and the Jonas character did not look exactly like her.
The ruling said that the character was just “a work of fiction and satire”.
